Teenage Jesus and The Jerks Schedule 2 NYC Shows

No Wave Book Cover

Legendary no-wavers Teenage Jesus & the Jerks have scheduled 2 concerts at the [New York] Knitting Factory in June. The lineup will include miss Lydia Lunch, Jim Sclavunos (Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds), and an “unnamed” bass player. The band’s reunion was prompted by and deliberately coincides with the release of a book about the no wave scene, (appropriately) titled No Wave: Post-Punk. Underground. New York. 1976-1980. No Wave contains 150 (mostly) previously unpublished images and its text comes was extracted from hundreds of hours of personal interviews by none other than Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth, Mix Tape) and Byron Coley (Forced Exposure, Spin).

**intro by Lydia Lunch. The first edition hits shelves in May of 2008, but you can pre-order it here.

UPDATED: [MORE THAN] 3 Dates Added To Swervedriver Reunion: Austin, LA, and Boston

UPDATED 03/27/2008

tons more dates have been added. check out this link for specifics. The superfan who runs the Swervedriver myspace page encourages you to buy tickets early.***Swervedriver Comic

UK shoegazers Swervedriver have scheduled 5 shows for their 2008 reunion (so far). In addition to the two NYC shows they’d previously announced, they’ll be playing three more dates are as follows:

5/31 - Hollywood, CA/Henry Fonda
6/03 - Austin, TX/Emo’s
6/10 - Boston, MA/ Paradise Rock Club
6/11 - NYC, NY/Bowery Ballroom
6/12 - Brooklyn, NY/Music Hall of Williamsburg

NOTE THAT THE L.A. SHOW JUST HAPPENS TO BE ON THE SAME NIGHT AS THE CURE AT THE HOLLYWOOD BOWL. Ahem. ‘Scuse me, I’m sorry. I would just like the chance to see them both, but I already have really good seats for the Cure so that’ll have to do. It was a little comforting, however, to read the comments on the Swervedriver post on the brooklynvegan site–reposted here just to make you giggle:

“The first Swervedriver album, All Swerved Up is classic. After that they became total nazi National Front crap.”

and the reply:

“Swervedriver is not to be confused with the nazi band SCREWDRIVER.”

Jay Reatard has a music blog. Here’s a new song:

That’s right. He writes stuff. Besides music. Sort of. I was really just gonna post a bulletin about his show on March 31st at All Star Lanes in Eagle Rock (with Mika Miko, Bad Parents, and free Dewars! which is whiskey. not a band), but when I went to his myspace page I followed a link from his blog (which read “gonna be posting lottsa random music here check it out…”) to his blogspot (Jay Reatard: Listen & Laugh), and there I found the new song. It’s called ‘Tiny Little Home’ and if you like Jay Reatard, The Reatards, Angry Angles, etc, etc, etc, then you will like this too.

So here it is, from him, through me, to you:
Jay Reatard - Tiny Little Home

Oh and in Jay’s post there was also this picture of (what he said was) his tiny little house:
Tiny Little Home
I don’t think it’s really his house. Do you guys think it’s really his house?
Should I tell you what I had for breakfast this morning, too?
What’s your favorite color?

Nothing. I had nothing.
