World’s cutest mini moog…and some crap about bands: New Bomb The Bass Song/Video

This is supposed to be a piece about Bomb the Bass. What you should be gathering from this, is that British house DJ Bomb the Bass (born Tim Simenon) has been changing the face of the electronic/house scene since I was still in diapers.

You should take away from this post that after experimenting through the eighties and nineties and falling off circa 2001, he is finally coming out with a new album (slated for release in May). AND, how Future Chaos (announced November 2006 and dead till now) strips his sound back down to its bare-naked ass, robotic, European core.

This right here is probably where I would run you through the list of contributors and collaborators, such as Screaming Trees/QOTSA singer Mark Lanegan, Paul Conboy of A.P.E and Corker Conboy, or (my personal favorite) the kraut worshipping (and dont let the name fool you) BRITISH trio Fujiya and Miyagi.

If this were a real article, it would also be nice to tell you that a tour was being planned in support; with a slew of guests, DJs, and of course, visual artists. But this isn’t a real article. It is simply an excuse to post the cutest freaken video I have ever seen.

That enough filler?

Thank God.

FRIDAY: The Shadowmen on the Long Beach Rockit! Boat

The Shadowmen

Cypress and Long Beach have brought you something that isn’t like the normal crap they usually shit out. The Shadowmen are like the good stuff you used to see at shows when you were sixteen. Funny story: the drummer of this band totally made me feel like a douchebag pretty often when I was in 8th grade, cause like, he had a huge mohawk (or did he have three?) and I wasn’t punk enough (I had no mohawks and bought all my patches at bionic at the same time). I probably deserved it and we’re friends now so don’t hold it against him. I just like to rub it in his face whenever I’m drunk or when I know someone else will think it’s funny. Anyway, see if you can catch my drift on this one: They’ve got that uber squeaky sounding synthesizer and those screamy I’m-American-but-I-wish-I-was-British rock ‘n roll vocals that always sound like shit when they’re out of place. The Shadowmen should have been a band when threeoneg was still putting out good shit. But they weren’t. So hopefully you’ll decide not to hold it against them and come help ‘em capsize a boat:

2 Boys From San Francisco are GIRLS!

No dude I’m not being a dick. It’s true. Girls is the name under which these two kids from SF make music. I mean, I don’t like to make a habit of reposting someone elses news, but like, what’s all this news anyway? Someone else did it first. So I’ll keep it real amd give ‘em a throwback. I was reading gorilla vs. bear today and their most recent post caught my eye cause it had a real sweet picture:

GIRLS!

So I thought I’d check it out. Turned out to be worth it, for a couple reasons: one of the dudes plays in Holy Shit with another fantastic pick, Mr. Ariel Pink, and also because their music is pretty stellar. I tried to find a song to host that wasn’t already on the gvsb page but since I couldn’t, you guys only get one, and you’ll have to go to the place I stole it from to download another one. And then you’ll have to go even further back, all the way to their myspace page, to hear two other tracks because they aren’t available for download. Anyway, whatever. Enjoy, and when this shit shows up on stereogum or pitchfork in a couple days remember where you heard it first. Goodnight.
